Talking Artisan NPC In Guild Halls

I searched through the index before posting this. I didn't see it myself, an extra set of eyes is always useful though so if this already exists, then close this.

I think having an artisan in the Guild Hall would be a neat addition. I know how scattered about the lands, there are different artisans who can craft different materials, why not enable such a "ladder" if you will in the Guild Hall.

Like any other NPC, make his initial cost be 100k. Then have him separated into upgradable "levels" to where you can actually BUY what items you want him to be able to craft, therefore changing his NPC name. This will provide both a gold sink that Arenanet has problems with making, and it would give other players a way to get rid of their unwanted, unsellable materials and crafting them into things they can use, or sell to other players.

For instance, I'd say make him a Dwarf (We lack dwarf's in the GH), and name him like Brennar Goldenhands (I was put on the spot for a name lol) and give him a little rank out beside his name such as: (Beginner Artisan) or something to that effect, and as he learns more and more items to craft, his rank gets higher. You can make it 5 titles, each unlocked every 3 items learned, then one for max, allowing competition amongst guilds in an alliance to see who can get him maxed that fastest.... anyways...

I think having each upgrade set at 100k would allow people to have to pay a hefty price to unlock each item, which may deterr people who still like running to various artisans and crafting their materials, or some the other side of things provide a gold sink and a way for people to spend their unwanted gold.

Just an idea, thoughts on how to make it into a reality would be nice. Thanks for you all's time.

If they wanted any Artisan to have all materials available, they would have done so already. Most are easy to reach anyway, and I'm not aware of any you need to fight monsters to reach for a material not available somewhere else. Kaineng Center has one, there is one right outside The Marketplace, there is one right outside the Central Transfer Chamber, one outside Fort Ranik, etc. If it was hard to reach what you need, I'd be more willing to agree, but this isn't needed and won't offer much.

Same could be said for every other NPC in the Guild Hall. I say just have it for convenience more than anything else, that's why all the other NPCs are there, right?

No, the same can't be said. Take the Skill Trainer for example. It only offers Core skills, so Assassin, Ritualist, Dervish, and Paragon have no skills at all, while the core classes have limited selection. All other NPCs offer the same things as the equivalent NPCs in any town. You are asking Anet to add in a new NPC that is more than 1 NPC combined for its services.

Sigh, always people to shoot down good suggestions.

I /signed.

I disagree with the 100k addition though...We already need to spend over 500k to max a hall out, make it 10-20k instead like the rest lol.

Artisans are mostly in explorable areas for a reason: because they're meant to be tough to reach.

Not a terrible idea, really. The "upgrading" thing is pretty awful, but having an artisan in GH is really not bad.
